California Golden Bears

The California Golden Bears football program is one of the oldest and most successful in college football. The team began play in 1886 and has won five national championships (1920, 1921, 1922, 1923, and 1937), as well as 14 conference championships.

Some notable moments in Cal football history are:

• 1920: The Bears win their first national championship under coach Andy Smith
• 1921: The Bears repeat as national champions.
• 1922: The Bears win their third consecutive national championship.
• 1923: The Bears win their fourth consecutive national championship.
• 1937: The Bears win their fifth national championship.
• 1958: The Bears win the Rose Bowl, defeating Ohio State 17-14

The Bears play their home games at California Memorial Stadium, which is located on the campus of the University of California, Berkeley. The stadium has a capacity of 63,000 and is one of the most iconic college football stadiums in the country.

Sharing the greatest stories of Big 12 football team histories! The Big 12 Conference has been a perneial powerhouse of great football schools. The Conference was originally founded in February 1994. The eight members of the former Big Eight Conference joined with the Southwest Conference universities University of Texas at Austin, Texas A&M University, Baylor University and Texas Tech University to form the conference, with play beginning in 1996.
